Staccato by misterunlucky Staccato by misterunlucky
I was listening to some jazz when I did this.
Usually, I wouldn't even attempt abstract work... I'm far more illustrative. But, I really like this one.
I named it "Staccato" because of the visual rhythm across the image.
I'd be interested to hear some other impressions of the piece.

I think this is a great execution. I can definitely hear the jazz coming through this piece... both the colours and shapes are very well balanced. Great geometric composition: the orange block is nicely nested inside the blues. I'm getting vibes of Mondrian, Klee and large, open, Art-deco spaces.

What I especially like is the rhythms created by the columns: the diagonal created by those four blocks of shadow provides a nice counterpoint to the perpendicular framework. The attention to structural detail is superb: the miniature echoes of the orange and white blocks give a sense of space, and the negative lines running along the bottom and left break it up gently and effectively.

The only thing I could possibly advise improvement on: blue and orange are complementary and therefore a reliable choice, but such colour schemes have become something of a cliche. You could inject more originality into this work by shifting the hues around. For example, see what it looks like if you "invert" it in Photoshop. NB: I'm NOT criticising at all, (I think the piece great) but thought you might like to bear that in mind for future work.

I really hope you do more abstract work, you clearly have an excellent intuition for it.

I'm sorry. You're too far beyond my own abilities for me to critique.

I'm not really a fan of abstract art, but I like the color arrangement and the way you stuck to one basic shape.

Very kind of you...

I wouldn't call myself a *fan* of abstract art, per se, but I'm trying to learn more about it so I can have a greater appreciation it.

Thanks very much!!
